Colosseum
Digital, 2024
The Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, was continuously built under the emperors Vespasian and Titus, and then modified under Domitian. It is one of the biggest amphitheatres in the ancient world, and was built to host public spectacles like gladiator fights, animal hunts, and even naval battles. Though it is a symbol of public celebration, it was also the site for thousands (if not more) brutal human and animal deaths.
