MEDEA

An illustration of the sorceress Medea and one of her dragons. Medea is from Colchis, which is located in modern-day Georgia. Her clothing is also a modern take of a crepe chiton over a sheer top, and the embroidered dotted design on the sleeves is inspired by the clothing Medea is often depicted in on Greek Pottery, which identifies her as a foreigner from the east. I also added a triangle motif on the hem of the chiton to symbolise the dragons teeth Jason sowed to get the golden fleece. Finally, the dragon's design is based on one from a Greek amphora depicting the dragon that guarded the golden fleece (though in this illo this dragon will be with the chariot)
