The Thebaid - This cover depicts several scenes from the Thebaid. From foreground to background; Melanippus eating Tydeus’ brains, brothers Eteocles and Polynices killing eachother, the fury Tisiphone watching over the horrific scenes, and in the background Oedipus clutching his torn eye sockets.

The Metmorphoses - This cover depicts several myths from the original book, including Apollo and Daphne, Narcissus, Dionysus transforming the sailors into dolphins, the daughters of Minyas, the Meneads, the Calydonian boar, and Icarus and Daedalus.
