Mapping an Uneven Path: Stories of Health and Disability at Verulamium

Digital, 2024

Client: Verulamium Museum

Thank you very much to Kyle Lewis Jordan, curator of the exhibition, for entrusting me to bring these stories to life through my work. Thank you also to Lee Wood, whose panel designs display my illustrations beautifully.

Funded by the Arts Council England, this exhibition was part of "Revisiting the Romans" project, which aims to tell new and under-represented stories about the ancient Romans at the Verulamium. Alongside a co-production group of six local disabled people from the St Albans area, the exhibition makes use of Verulamium's archaeology and local St Albans history, Roman literature and the co-producers own lived experiences to tell stories about health and disability. Aimed towards a general audience, the exhibition introduces visitors to colourful stories about how the Romans thought about care and disability. Read more of Kyle’s writeup here.
